CSC partners with Fortis Hospital to launch telemedicine service for rural India

With the aim to provide quality medical facilities to the people living in rural areas and small towns, the Common Services Centre, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, has partnered with the Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurugram to launch telemedicine services that will be provided through a network of 3.76 lakh CSCs across the country.

Under this initiative, super-speciality teleconsultations with doctors from FMRI in Gurugram, Haryana, will be provided to citizens, particularly in rural and remote areas, at an affordable price through CSC telemedicine platform.

Elaborating on the collaboration, CSC Managing Director Dr Dinesh Tyagi said, “ Through our collaboration with Fortis, VLEs (Village Level Entrepreneurs) will be able to function as Digital Doctors fulfilling the aim of taking quality healthcare to rural areas under Digital India.”

Currently, CSC provides telemedicine consultations on Allopathy, Ayurveda, and Homeopathy. More than 4.25 lakh teleconsultations have been done through the CSC telemedicine platform. More than 1,500 CSC Wellness Centres are active across the country, delivering primary medical care to all age groups, diagnostics services, generic medicines, homoeopathy medicines, ayurvedic medicines and wellness products and, basic eye testing said a statement.
