<p>In the busy humdrum of the NewGen high-stress society, where erratic schedules, commuting costs and other restrictions add to one’s inability to visit a doctor, IIT Madras alumni Satish Kannan (CEO) and Enbasekar D (CTO), launched DocsApp in July 2015.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Recalling how the concept has evolved, Enbasekar, Co-founder & CTO, said, “In 2013, when we began working on the concept, we realised that 72% of health issues can be handled by remote doctor intervention, and diagnosed and treated online. We leveraged the opportunity to bring in the ‘WhatsApp of Healthcare’ by drawing up three primary clusters: Busy professionals with little time to visit the doctor; Those hesitant in visiting specialists such as sexologists and psychiatrists/psychologists; Those living in far-flung remote towns/cities, without access to specialists.”<br /><br />“The USP of our app is that it will connect patients with doctors through a chat or call on-the-go. Besides, medicines will be made available to patients at their doorstep. It is a cost-effective solution for primary healthcare, second opinion in chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiac ailments, arthritis and cancer, and access to quality medical consultation across geographical locations,” he added.<br /><br />Today, DocsApp provides specialists’ services for all age groups in several key disciplines such as dermatology, gynaecology, sexology, paediatrics, general medicine, psychiatry, weight management, etc.<br /><br />Sharing the details about the company, he said, “We have 1,150 doctors on board, and will be available for consultation online. All our doctors are verified thoroughly through a three-step verification process, and have over five years of experience. Besides, we have a well-established network of over 3,000 pathlabs spread across the country.”<br /><br />DocsApp, which began with a team of six, now boasts of 42 people, with 12 staff taking care of technology aspects. The app, which receives about 2,000-3,000 requests a day, has been reaching out to 250,000 users.<br /><br />The company, which is witnessing a growth rate of 30%, has raised $1.2 million funding from Japanese VC Rebright Partners, Anand Rajaraman, GSF Accelerator, IIT-M Incubation Center, and other top angels like Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Rajesh Sawhney (GSF), and Srikanth Sundararajan (Helion).<br /><br />Commenting on future plans, he said “Our aim is to grow the user-base to one million patients in 2017. It eventually envisions making world-class, high-quality healthcare accessible to the masses in the country by building technological solutions that can assist doctors in providing impeccable consultation and disease diagnosis.”<br /><br /></p>
