On-demand healthcare service provider mfine aims to touch one lakh consultations by the end of this fiscal and expand its presence from Bengaluru to other five cities this year.

Founded in December last year, the app-based startup has now partnered with 16 hospitals including Cloudnine and Aster in Bengaluru, and has done over 10,000 consultations.

One can consult doctors online, chat and video call them for instant medical care. “Technology can be put to maximum use in healthcare. We started off with an idea to create better experience to patients/consumers,” Prasad Kompalli, co-founder and CEO of mfine said.

Apart from chatting, patients can do both audio and video calls, but according to the convenience of doctors.

“People feel that visiting hospitals is a painful exercise. What mfine does is, it provides on demand service, and when you require the consultation, you can fix the slot immediately,” he added.

Lab reports can be uploaded and doctors can look at them and suggest treatment accordingly. Consultation fees are paid online.

mfine offers nine specialties such as cardiology, IVF and pediatrics, among others. "Any patient from across the country can fix the time slot and consult doctors," said Kompalli, adding the startup will tie up only with hospitals. "Ours is like cloud clinic," he said.

The startup has an Artificial Intelligence-powered technology system that is built on the foundation of standard medical ontologies and protocols, and is able to learn and replicate high quality diagnosis and treatment methods, explains Kompalli.

The system takes care of structured data collection, reminders for follow up based on signs/symptoms and execution of care protocols for chronic conditions.

Recently, the startup raised $4.2 million in Series A funding, led by Prime Venture Partners along with existing investors Stellaris Venture Partners and healthcare entrepreneur Mayur Abhaya.
