Indian financial markets closed today for holiday

The benchmark Nifty 50 settled 0.31% lower at 23,519.30, while the BSE Sensex declined 0.25% to 77,414.92 on Friday, as investors were cautious ahead of US reciprocal tariffs that are expected on April 2.

India's equity markets will be closed on Monday, March 31, for a local holiday. Trading will resume on Tuesday, April 1.

The currency and debt markets will be closed on Tuesday as well due to the annual bank closing and will resume trading on April 2, Wednesday.

The Indian rupee rose 0.36 per cent versus the US dollar to 85.47, boosted by seasonal and portfolio dollar inflows alongside a drop in bearish positions on the currency.

The benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 101.45 rupees, with the yield down 2 bps at 6.5823 per cent, as aggressive liquidity infusion and growing bets of an imminent rate cut boosted investor appetite.
