CFTRI ex-director lauds SIC for cleanliness, hygiene

Former director of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, V Prakash on Saturday lauded Schevaran Innovation Center (SIC) for it's initiative towards cleanliness and hygiene.

Prakash was addressing the gathering of SIC annual day and award ceremony organised on the theme of the year 'Cleanliness and Hygiene in Schools' by the innovation center, at the premises of Schevaran Laboratories, in Hebbal Industrial Area, here.

He said that the cleaning solutions manufactured by SIC are not only popular in the country, but gaining popularity in the international market. "This was possible only because of the hard work," he said.

Prakash appreciating the SIC managing director Sam Cherian said that he has achieved success in life by taking risk and he will become a perfect global leader in cleanliness. I don't think that any government, politics and environmental changes, will alter its goal of a clean environment, with green technology, green sustainability and also, persistently lowest quantum to clean that can be afforded. Through this Swachh Bharat, moving to Swastya Bharat, will become Sampoorna Bharat in the environment cleanliness," he said.

The member of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar also said that taking up the cause of cleanliness and hygiene in school as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is much-needed initiative. At present, the importance given to cleanliness and hygiene in schools has not reached the expectation that required in the 21st century.

Eco-friendly products

He also lauded the company for its eco-friendly clean products. "Environmental-friendly products are need of the hour and majority of the industries in Mysuru are making a commendable job by taking up eco-friendly initiatives, even though they do not get financial aid from the government," he added.

The University of Mysore (UoM) Vice Chancellor G Hemanth Kumar expressed that the cleanliness and hygiene in the schools and the colleges are very much essential. The UoM is also taking up the steps to keep the University campus clean. It is also the responsibility of the students to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, he said.

SIC felicitated Prakash for receiving the lifetime achievement award recently.

While professor Shubha Gopal was conferred with 'Schevaran Scientific Excellence' award, 'Schevaran Social Out-reach' award was conferred on Prithvi Sudindra for her service towards differently abled people.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction S Mamatha was present.
