JOIN USTwo Class VI students drowned in a lake near Jigani, South Bengaluru, on Tuesday evening. The incident emerged on Wednesday after their families started looking for them.
H Goutham, 12, and Sujit Kumar, 11, both from Hennakki village, Anekal, had gone missing on Tuesday evening. Their parents looked for them and assumed they had gone to a friend’s place. But the families grew anxious when the boys failed to return home on Wednesday morning.
Goutham’s mother Radha started searching for the boy with the help of villagers and informed the jurisdictional Anekal police.
Police launched an investigation and found the boys’ clothes and slippers near the lake. Assuming the boys had drowned, police summoned the fire and emergency services personnel to fish the bodies out.
Kumar’s family hails from West Bengal. He was living with his mother Sonali. The mothers of both the boys work at a garment factory in Bommanahalli.
