<p>A 35-year-old business analyst stabbed the 45-year-old mother of an auto driver, besides injuring her husband and the driver himself.</p>.<p>The incident happened in Bairathi in Kothanur limits of north Bengaluru on Saturday night when the auto driver, Bharath, tried clearing the air with Anand Kumar over a misunderstanding about his friendship with Kumar’s wife.</p>.<p>The police said Kumar, working with a private firm in Whitefield and living for a decade in Bairathi with his wife Sneha and 10-year-old daughter, frequently clashed with his wife over her friendship with Bharath, who resided close by.</p>.<p>A senior police official said Kumar came home drunk on Saturday evening and quarrelled with his wife over Bharath.</p>.<p>Sneha called Bharath, who came over to convince Kumar that there was nothing suspicious going on between him and Sneha.</p>.<p>But on seeing Bharath, Kumar raised his voice. The commotion brought Bharath’s parents to the spot. In the heated argument that ensued, Kumar picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Bharath’s mother Savithramma, his father Sannappa and Bharath, too.</p>.<p>Savithramma, who Kumar stabbed on the chest, died on the spot, while Sannappa and Bharath sustained multiple stab wounds.</p>.<p>Sneha’s loud cries alerted the neighbours, who rushed the three victims to hospital, where Savithramma was declared brought dead. Sannappa and Bharath were admitted for treatment.</p>.<p class="CrossHead Rag">‘Auto was for commute’</p>.<p>The Kothanur police arrested Kumar, who tried to escape.</p>.<p>He told the police that Bharath’s affair with his wife prompted him to attack the family, but preliminary investigations revealed that Sneha was only hiring Bharath’s auto for commute.</p>.<p>The police, who booked Kumar for murder and attempt to murder, produced him before the magistrate.</p>.<p>He was remanded to judicial custody. The police are yet to record the Sannappa’s and Bharath’s statements as they were still in hospital.</p>
