Bank manager abducted on scooter, robbed of Rs 40,000

A 50-year-old manager of a nationalised bank was abducted and robbed by a motorist on April 29.

The victim, K Sarvesh, said that at around 7.15 pm, he stopped his car near the Jayanagar metro station to answer a phone call while he was returning home after meeting a friend.

A man, aged around 30 years, approached Sarvesh and asked him to go with him and threatened him with consequences if he failed to do so.

The man forced Sarvesh to drop his mobile phone in the car and took him to VV Puram on a scooter. There he forced Sarvesh to withdraw Rs 40,000 from an ATM. The man snatched his wallet with Rs 5,500 with IDs and fled, Sarvesh stated in his complaint.

Sarvesh managed to reach home and with the help of his friends informed the police. A case was registered with the VV Puram police station and was later transferred to the Jayanagar police.

The police have taken up a case kidnapping (364a) and extortion
(384).

A senior police officer said the victim’s claim that he was abducted on the scooter was leading to a lot of doubts.

“ Since the complainant is under shock, we want him to recover,” the officer said.The police are analysing CCTV footage from the places the duo visited.
