Following DH report, BBMP fixes property tax website

Finally, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has renewed the security certificate of its property tax website.

On Sunday, DH reported a story 'Palike's property tax site insecure, citizens hassled by glitches.' The story highlighted the technical issues the citizens face while using the website to pay the tax and the expiry of the site security certificate.

On Tuesday, the BBMP renewed the site's security certificate which expired on April 2.

Speaking to DH, Manoj Rajan, BBMP special commissioner (IT), said, "We have installed secure sockets layer (SSL) in all the BBMP servers and the property tax site security certificate has also been renewed by state data centre."

Venkatesh, technical director, National Informatics Centre (NIC), said: "people can use the website, there will be no security issues on the site and also on the payment gateway."

N Manjunath Prasad, BBMP Commissioner said in a statement said: "Property tax portal is running from State Data Centre (SDC) since past two years. Every year the SSL certificate is renewed by Karnataka state data centre (SDC) in March as the certificate expires on April 2. This year there was a delay in renewing it. The SDC has informed and the license is renewed."
