READ: Reports on the proposed elevated corridor project

To provide seamless connectivity from one end of Bengaluru to another and decongest the roads choked with vehicles, the state government floated a tender for an elevated corridor just a few days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections. The decision to build the elevated corridor has left the city divided with pro and con debates reaching a new crescendo.

Activists have alleged that the project all along its path will cut down trees, demolish heritage structures and pave the way for even more traffic in the days to come. Even though the government has conveyed that it will consider the opinion of all sections of society, the decision to float a tender unilaterally has drawn flak from various quarters.
