Businessman fired at, injured

Assailants opened fire at a 62-year-old businessman while he was on his way to work on the busy Assaye Road in Pulakeshinagar on Monday afternoon.

The injured, Masood Ali, sustained a bullet injury on his back.

According to the police, the incident happened at 11.30 am when Ali, the owner of a furniture shop on St Mark's Road, was driving to work alone in his car.

The police suspect the assailants followed him and attacked him. Ali is said to be out of danger. He told the police that he neither had enemies nor any threat perception.

The police are now verifying CCTV footage from the nearby areas to identify the suspects. The police are conducting inquires to ascertain if Ali had any family disputes or business rivalry. The Pulakeshinagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder.
