Following several complaints of extortion and land grabbing, the Central Crime Branch raided residences and office premises of seven goons in and around the city in the early hours of Wednesday. The CCB also seized property documents during the raids.

Additional Commissioner (Crime), Alok Kumar, said the raids were conducted to check criminal activities of goons in the city, and their involvement in land grabbing and unlawful money lending.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided the premises of Sunil, Rohit, Vediyappan, Manjunath, Bharath, Nagaraj and Jayakumar.

Kumar further added that most of the rowdies in the city have changed their modus operandi, and now engage in unlawful money lending, land grabbing and land-dispute settlements.

While raiding Nagaraj’s house, the CCB officials recovered a licensed pistol and six bullets. Further search found that 19 bullets were missing from his possession, and he was asked to account for the same. Police also recovered an air-gun, when they raided Bharath's house.
