Aimed at building an investor-friendly relationship with the southern states of India especially Karnataka, the Republic of Colombia has appointed Arif Vazirally as the new Honorary Consul in Bengaluru.

Vazirally, who assumed the role of Consul General of the Republic of Colombia in June 2018, will facilitate the economic development objectives of the Colombian Embassy across the southern states.

According to a press release, Vazirally will work out of his Global Calcium office in Koramangala and help the embassy build a robust investor pipeline and facilitate trade in the region. Vazirally is the founder and executive chairman of tech venture Global Calcium that was started in 1979 in association with Sandoz, Switzerland.

Many Bengaluru-based IT companies like Infosys, Wipro and other automobile companies like TVS Motors have a direct and indirect presence in Colombia and the embassy aims to bolster the ties with Karnataka and other southern states.
