Electrical contractors protest against BBMP

Bruhart Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike electrical contractors held a demonstration in front of Palike head office from Wednesday morning asking for pending payments worth Rs 35 crore of last one year.

Speaking to DH, K M Raju, general secretary of BBMP electrical contractors association said, “We have decided to boycott work from today because of the non-payment of our contract amount of one year. We have given several complaints since December 2017, but the civic body has failed to take any action.”

More than 150 work vehicles from 198 wards stopped their work and parked them in front of the Palike head office. “More than 4.80 lakh streetlights in the city we operate and maintain.  We will neither switch them on nor switch them off till the demand is meet,” he added.

“We have given a complaint to the Mayor, he has responded positively but the file is not been processed by the BBMP commissioner,” blamed K M Raju.

Earlier, pourakarmikas and garbage contractors also protested against the BBMP for not paying the pending amount.
