Falling iron gate killsfour-yr-old girl

An iron gate of a neighbouring compound crashed and killed a four-year-old girl in Thyagarajnagar in Basavanagudi on April 9.

The police said Kruthi Arasu M sustained severe injuries to her head and was declared brought dead at a nearby nursing home.

The incident happened around 7.10 pm on Tuesday when Kruthi and her elder sister Dhruthi Arasu M were playing near their paternal grandparents' house.

Since it was summer holidays, their parents Manjunath A and Sharmila left the two girls at Manjunath's mother Subbulakshmi's house on the 2nd Main, 2nd Cross in 3rd Block.

Manjunath, a sales manager with a company, lived in 2nd Cross, Kathriguppe East in Banashankari 3rd Stage with his wife and children.

The girls were playing near the neighbour's compound when the gate broke and fell on Kruthi. The girl was injured on the head and was bleeding profusely.

Manjunath's sister Radhika called up Sharmila to inform her about the accident. By the time the couple arrived, Radhika took help from a few neighbours and rushed Kruthi to the nearby Bharathi Nursing Home, where the girl was pronounced dead due to excessive bleeding.

Manjunath filed a police complaint against the neighbor Muralidhar, stating that his daughter was killed due to his negligence.

The Basavanagudi police booked Muralidhar under IPC Section 304-A (causing death due to criminal negligence). Further investigations are on.
