The high court has pulled up the police for “lackadaisical” investigation into the suicide of a young lawyer.
Hearing a PIL petition filed by the Advocates Association Bangalore over “inept” police probe, the court expressed disappointment at what it called was an “unsatisfactory” affidavit submitted by the police.
The court then ordered the deputy inspector general of police to explain in the affidavit the cause of the “lackadaisical” approach to the investigation.
The court also sought to know why multiple investigation agencies were involved in the case and about officers involved in the probe.
The court warned of handing over the probe to the CBI if the police failed to carry out an effective investigation.
