HC relief to cricketer Amit Mishra in assault case

The high court on Friday granted interim stay on lower court proceedings and an FIR filed against cricketer Amit Mishra by a woman for allegedly abusing and assaulting her.

Mishra has approached the court seeking quashing of the FIR and said proceedings. The petitioner’s counsel, M S Shyam Sundar, contended that the complaint was a false one.

The 35-year-old woman, a resident of Bengaluru, claiming to be a Bollywood film producer, had filed a complaint with the Ashok Nagar police on September 25, 2015.

In the complaint, the woman said that When she mistakenly entered Mishra’s hotel room on the Residency Road, he reportedly abused and assaulted her.
