Fed up with the BBMP’s inability to check rampant commercialisation in Indiranagar, residents from the area met Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar in this regard on Saturday.

The meeting was convened in order to bring to the notice of the authorities the rampant illegal commercialisation of residential areas and other related problems thriving in the locality.

Under the umbrella I Change Indiranagar, a federation of eight residents’ welfare associations, the citizens filed a representation before the officer.

“The chief secretary listened to our appeal and has said that he will check the problems internally. We have been fighting against this for a long time and the civic body is even failing to
implement the court orders in shutting down illegal
commercial establishments in residential areas,” said Rajesh Dangi, a resident of the locality.

The meeting was convened with the help of Renuka Vishwanathan, who contested as an AAP candidate for the Shantinagar segment during the Assembly elections in
May.

The representatives also met PWD minister H D Revanna, who assured them of setting up a meeting with Chief Minister
H D Kumaraswamy so that they could bring the issues to his notice.

The residents are expecting that the meeting would be scheduled after the chief minister returns from his Kalaburagi tour.
