Depressed over personal issues, a 55-year-old BEL employee committed suicide by jumping before a moving train at Lottegollahalli near Hebbal on Thursday.

Srinivasan, a resident of BEL Layout, left home on Wednesday morning, telling his family members that he was going to work, but never returned. He worked as a clerk at the BEL office.

A senior police officer at the Yeswantpur railway station said the incident took place on Thursday evening. Preliminary investigation revealed that Srinivasan was depressed and so he took the decision to end his life by jumping in front of the train.

Passersby who noticed the body alerted the railway staff. Srinivasan’s wife and children gave a statement, saying he was upset over personal issues and did not visit them regularly. No death note was found.
