A 24-year-old man was arrested for killing his paramour and forcing her two children out of the house. The children were forced to spend three days in a Ganesh pandal without food near Krishnarajapuram.

The suspect has been identified as K C Govind, a resident of Ayyappanagar and working in a bakery.

A senior police officer said that they recovered the decomposed body of Lakshmi (32) from her house after the owner on Thursday alerted them on getting a foul smell from the house. Neighbours, who found her two children Keshav (10) and his brother Kishore (6) in a Ganesh pandal, asked them where they lived. After the children gave their address, the neighbours took them to the owner. When the owner asked the boys about their mother’s death, they told him that she was choked to death by Govind. He even warned them not to reveal this to anyone and threw them out of the house, they said.

The children, who feared Govind may kill them too, did not reveal the incident to anyone and spent three days in a Ganesh pandal without food.

Soon after the murder, Govind fled to Bangarpet from where he was arrested. He told the police that he asked Lakshmi to part with her daily wages, which she refused. He picked a fight with her and in a fit of rage, he choked her to death. The children have been admitted to the government home.
