Man sleeping under brother-in-law's van run over

A 35-year-old drunk man was run over by a Tempo Traveller under which he was sleeping on Bannerghatta Road in Konanakunte near JP Nagar on Thursday evening. The vehicle owner Kumar was arrested and booked for rash and negligent driving.

The deceased has been identified as Subramani K, a resident of Eshwara Layout, who was working as a daily wager in a cable service company. He was a bachelor and living with his relative.

The Konanakunte police said that around 7.30 pm Kumar, Subramani's brother-in-law had parked his vehicle on the road. Subramani, who was drunk, did not want to enter the house and slept under the vehicle. After a while, Kumar came out to park his vehicle inside the compound and did not notice Subramani sleeping under it. When he moved the vehicle, the rear wheel ran over Subramani.

Passersby alerted the Kumar, who stopped the vehicle and rushed Subramani to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Later, the police took Kumar into custody and gathered CCTV footage.
