Missing: HC orders techie case moved to CBI

Last Updated 09 November 2018, 11:24 IST

The Karnataka High Court, on Monday, directed the transfer of the case wherein techie Ajitabh Kumar went missing. The HC ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is currently investigating the case, to hand it over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The court directed the transfer on the grounds that there had been multiple leads from investigation teams of various states. The transfer would help better coordination between these agencies, and instil confidence in Ajitabh's family.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Ashok Kumar Sinha, Ajitabh’s father, who moved the court seeking directions for transfer of investigation from SIT to CBI. Sinha pled on grounds that SIT's investigation had yielded no results.

It maybe recalled that Ajitabh Kumar, a city-based software engineer, went missing from the city when he left home after receiving a call from a prospective buyer for his car on December 18, 2017. He had advertised the car in an online market place.

The order that was read out in open court, directed the SIT to handover all the documents relating to the investigation so far, to the CBI.
