A woman and her son have been arrested reportedly for murdering her husband’s friend, who asked for a share in their property.

The Soladevanahalli police arrested Jainabi (42) and her son Roshan (20) for killing Bashir Ahmed (37), a native of Vijayapura, who was staying with them for the past 18 years.

A senior police officer said the family was earlier staying in Vijayapura. Jainabi’s husband Ilyas had asked Ahmed to join him in the second-hand vehicle business. They then migrated to Bengaluru, and Ahmed also came along and was living with the family.

Later, Ilyas and Ahmed started a business and invested in many properties.

Recently, Ahmed decided to separate from the family and asked Ilyas for a share of the property. Ilyas agreed, but his wife and son did not want to oblige to Ahmed’s request. So, the mother and son hatched a plan to kill Ahmed.

On June 30, when Ilyas was out of town, they hit Ahmed with a cricket bat when he was asleep. They dumped his body in the Cauvery river near KR Pete.

When Ilyas returned home on July 4 and inquired about Ahmed, the duo told him that he left home on June 30 and never returned.

Ilyas later filed a missing complaint with the police. The investigation revealed that the duo had killed Ahmed and arrested them.
