Mother with two kids commits suicide by jumping into lake

A 26-year-old woman committed suicide along with her two minor children by jumping into a lake at Kalkere in Magadi taluk on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

The victims are Sujatha, Nakul (6) and Vishal (4).

Sujatha was married to Anjanmurthy eight years ago and the couple was living at Tavarekere, the police said.

According to the police, Sujatha left the house for the village fair with the two kids and but did not return home. On Sunday evening, the villagers noticed the bodies floating in the lake and alerted the police.

The preliminary investigations revealed that Sujatha was upset with her husband who had told her to remain in the house and not to go outside. The police suspect that she may have taken this extreme step to teach her husband a lesson.

The Magadi rural police have taken up a case of two murders and an unnatural death and are investigating further.
