Notice to rapper Chandan Shetty for promoting marijuana

Central Crime Branch officials issued a notice to Kannada rapper Chandan Shetty for promoting marijuana in his new song.

A senior police officer said that Shetty, in his new rap song that went viral on social media after its release in July, promoted the use of marijuana. "He has many followers and if he promotes banned drugs, there are chances of a large number his fans getting addicted to it. It also amounts to a violation of the NDPS Act. Hence, we issued a notice to him," the officer said.

"He was supposed to appear before the CCB on Monday but he did not turn up. We have decided to wait for a couple of days and if he fails to appear, necessary action will be taken against him," the officer said.
