Plaint against D K Shivakumar for poll code violation

The Cubbon Park police have filed an FIR against Energy Minister DK Shivakumar and nine other officials for violating the model code of conduct on May 4.

According to the police, an FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by Lalsingh Lamani, an officer of the Election Commission’s surveillance squad of the Shanthinagar Assembly Constituency.

The officer said Shivakumar along with KPCC district zone secretary B M Patel Pandu and other state government employees association members had booked a Chancery Hotel on Lavelle Road on May 4 and had arranged dinner for many people without taking the EC's permission.

The surveillance squad officials also took the video of DK Shivakumar and other officials participating in the dinner, and of the vehicle parked outside the hotel.

In the complaint, it is said that the dinner was arranged to please the officials on the election duty and sought action against the minister and the officials who had arranged it.
