KSPCB officials on Wednesday inspected Hoskote taluk, only to be welcomed by piles of garbage. Agitated by this, the officials have booked cases against the wrongdoers.

According to an official release, KSPCB chairman Lakshman along with his team visited Hoskote taluk, Jadigenahalli hobli, Vagatta village, and found rampant dumping of garbage. They also found trash being burnt, causing air pollution and health problems to the local residents.

“Following this, Thirumala Shettyhalli village officer Palaksha Prabhu K S and Vagatta village panchayat members also inspected the hobli, survey numbers 174 and 107 in Vagatta grama. On investigation, it was found that the areas were owned by Muniyappa alias Narasimhaiah and Narayanappa alias Muniyappa. They had made a facility to dump 30 tonnes of garbage on their land. Babu, from Hoskote town, also used to throw garbage here.

“The garbage used to be sorted for resale. The rest were burnt,” the release stated.

Lakshman instructed the officials and administration to clear the garbage immediately.

A case was also registered at the Thirumala Shettyhalli police station on Wednesday against the three residents. Lakshman also asked the authorities to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
