Railway police solve theft cases

According to Railway Superintendent of Police, they solved 35 cases in all and recovered valuables worth Rs seven lakh including 14 laptops, 21 cell phones and 500 gm gold jewellery. As many as 90 thefts and four robberies were reported between January and March-end.  

Cash and jewellery worth Rs 75,852 have been handed over to the complainants. During the same period, 368 unnatural deaths were reported, two persons committed suicide by consuming poison, and 99 men and 28 women ended their lives by coming under various trains.     

According to the Railway SP, 157 men and 37 women were killed after they accidentally came under different trains. Thirty-seven men and eight women died naturally in the railway premises.

In Bangalore alone, valuables worth Rs 6.72 lakh were stolen, out of which the railway police recovered items worth Rs 2,09,500 lakh.

Besides, valuables worth Rs 1,87,700 were stolen in Bangalore rural railway police station. Out of these, police recovered stolen items worth Rs 45,000. In Bangalore Cantonment railway station, items worth Rs 8.12 lakh were stolen. The Railway police, however, recovered Rs 63,000 worth valuables.

In other parts of the State like Bangarpet, Mysore, Arasikere, Shimoga, Davangere, Hubli,
Belgaum, Gadag, Bijapur, Bellary, Raichur, Wadi, and Bidar, valuables worth Rs 35,58,505 were stolen. Out of these, the railway police recovered items worth Rs 3,32,350 lakh, the railway SP added.
