It is not just the candidates who are busy this election season, but also the residents of Whitefield, who are busy meeting those contesting the elections.

Over the past week, the residents held multiple meetings with candidates contesting from the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency. While Arvind Limbavali is contesting from the BJP, A C Srinivas is contesting on the Congress ticket.

The members of Whitefield Rising had organised meetings with all the prominent candidates over the past week, and put forth a charter of demands.

A few members from the organisation even met senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on May 4 and brought to his notice the state of infrastructure in the constituency.

Most of the residents are organising meetings with the candidates over the weekends as it won't affect their work schedules.

"Being one of the high tax-paying constituencies in the city, the Mahadevapura segment has been neglected the most," said Pradeep K Nair, president, Prestige Shantiniketan Apartment Owners' Association.

Pradeep has been keenly conducting the meetings to ensure that thousands of apartment residents come out and vote this time.

But, he says, their votes will be for those who listen to residents' woes.

"...It is only during the polls that they remember us. We do not want to entertain such people," he said firmly.

"Ours is not a constituency where people choose candidates based on caste. Most people are educated and we choose the candidate based on our issues and how good he/she is," Pradeep said.
