School boy dies under mysterious circumstances

A 14-year-old boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the school's premises in Madanayakanahalli near Nelamangala early Thursday morning. Doctors at the hospital suspect that the boy died due to a snake bite.

The deceased has been identified as Niranjan B, a student of Class 8 at the New Oxford Public School. He was the son of Basavaraj and Manjula, residents of Lakshmipura in Madanayakanahalli. The couple used to run an eatery shop in the locality.

The police have obtained CCTV footage at the school and are yet to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The police said that the boy was found dead in front of his classroom around 7.15 am and the school cleaning staff noticed him and alerted the management who then informed his parents. The Nelamangala police rushed to the spot and shifted his body to Victoria Hospital for postmortem.

The police added that, according to on the CCTV footage, the boy entered the school around 5.45 am located in Gangondanahalli. He jumped the compound wall from the back and roamed around the garden for some time. He then came near the classroom and collapsed. However, there were no injuries on his body. "We are waiting for the postmortem report to know the exact cause of death. We are yet to question the school authorities," the police said.

Niranjan's father Basavaraj told the police that his son woke up around 5.30 am when his uncle Veeresh was getting ready to go to work. After he left, Niranjan told his mother not to switch off the lights as he had to do his homework. While the parents fell asleep, Niranjan left home with in his night clothes and did not carry his school bag.
