Stray dogs poisoned in Kodigehalli; FIR filed

Last Updated 06 August 2018, 20:04 IST

About 30 stray dogs were poisoned to death at Telecom Layout in Kodigehalli on Friday. A complaint has been filed by animal welfare officer Harish K B, and the Kodigehalli police have filed an FIR in the incident.

“We just don’t want an FIR to be filed, but we want the police to trace the miscreants and punish them
for the heinous act,” Harish said.

According to a few residents in the area, the stray dogs were not causing trouble, except for barking at strangers in the area.

A resident claimed that the suspects poisoned the dogs so they wouldn’t bark at them if they attempted to rob houses in the area.

According to the resident, most of the dogs, including puppies, were found dead on the road.

One dog was taken to the Veterinary Hospital in Hebbal.

The resident also slammed the apathetic attitude of the BBMP and the police as the carcasses were still lying on the roadside.
