3 harassment cases reported from CBD in last week

Three incidents of sexual harassment have been reported from the Central Business District (CBD) in the last week.

A 23-year-old woman from Delhi was sexually harassed by two men on MG road on Saturday. An assistant director of a private firm, the victim was returning to her friend’s house after having dinner at MG Road around 12 am. While waiting with her friend for a cab, two men groped her on the pretext of a talk. They then verbally abused her asking her rate, she stated in her complaint. Passers-by rushed to her help when she raised an alarm and thrashed the duo before handing them over to the police. One of the accused was identified as Sarjeet K.

In a similar incident, a receptionist was sexually harassed by a man on Magrath Road on Friday when she was on her way to a nearby restaurant. The accused, Armugam, intercepted her and groped her on the pretext of a talk.

The accused began to flee when the victim raised an alarm. Chasing him she alerted a traffic policeman who nabbed the accused and handed him over to the Ashok Nagar police.

Earlier on Tuesday, a 26-year-old woman was groped by a man riding a scooter on Wellington road.

The victim was returning home from work in Richmond Road when the accused intercepted her. Before she could react, the accused groped her and sped away after hurling abuses at her. The victim managed to note down a part of the registration number and his appearance.
