Expensive bathroom toiletries were stolen from the newly inaugurated Advocates’ Association office at the Chief Metropolitan Court complex on Nrupatunga Road.

The theft, which took place on July 21, came to light on Monday when association members went to check the first-floor office after it got flooded. The removal of toiletries had resulted in waterlogging.

The theft happened despite the presence of security guards at the court complex. The Halasuru Gate police station is only 200 metres from the complex.

Gangadharaiah A N, general secretary of the association, lodged a police complaint on Tuesday. According to him, the office in the old building on the ground floor was shifted to the first floor after a formal inauguration. Construction activity is still going on.

The PWD had installed expensive bathroom fittings at the washroom and the toilet of the association office. However, someone in the know of things stole the toiletries, which led to waterlogging.

Three fancy taps and six taps fitted in the toilets were missing. The police said there were no CCTV footage as the work on the building is yet to be completed.

“We suspect some construction labourers might have committed the theft,” a senior police officer said.
