Two dead as bike collides with bus

A 30-year-old realtor and his woman friend were killed on the spot after a speeding Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus knocked their scooter down on Kaggalipura Road near Harohalli on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Suresh Babu, resident of Sarjapur, and his friend Joylet Bosco (26), resident of Doddabegur. The police have arrested the bus driver and have booked him for rash and negligent driving.

According to the police, Babu and Joylet had gone for an outing near Harohalli on Babu’s Honda Activa. While they were returning, Babu attempted to overtake a KSRTC bus.

The driver did not notice the scooter and knocked them down before running them over, the police said.

The bus driver, Janardhan, in his statement told the police that the scooter was trying to overtake the bus from the left and so he failed to notice them.

He ran away from the accident spot fearing public fury, but later surrendered before the police.
