A 62-year-old man from Maharashtra fell to his death from the fourth floor of a hotel in Mahadevapura on Sunday night. It came to light after a security staff found his body in a pool of blood the next morning and alerted the police.

The deceased has been identified as Vishwas Patil, owner of several educational institutes in Maharashtra, who had come to the city to attend a marriage on September 16.

A senior police officer said, Patil attended the marriage ceremony on Sunday night and on returning to his hotel was consuming alcohol around 2.30 am. While heading to his room he slipped and fell from the fourth floor window and died on the spot. Since the incident occurred in the wee hours it went unnoticed and it was only in the morning that the security staff alerted the police. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras of the hotel.

Preliminary investigation revealed that he was drunk and accidentally fell to his death. The police found bottles at the balcony. Police shifted his body to Bowring hospital for postmortem. The doctors at the hospital also confirmed that he was drunk. The family members of Patil reached the city on Tuesday to take his body back to Maharashtra.
