A woman killed her alcoholic husband for creating a ruckus and demanding mutton curry instead of the chicken curry that she had cooked on Sunday.

Police arrested the 35-year-old woman after she confessed to the crime following intense interrogation.

Rudramma, the suspect, told the police that her husband, Gopal(44) was a chronic alcoholic and used to harass her every day.

The couple—residents of Pragatipura in Kumaraswamy Layout—had three children and were fruit merchants, living in a three-storeyed building. Rudramma’s parents lived in the same building on the first floor while the couple resided on the second floor.

Scurry over curry

According to Rudramma’s statement to the police, on Sunday, Gopal came home drunk and created a ruckus after he found out that she had cooked chicken curry.

He demanded mutton curry instead and heated arguments ensued between the couple.

Rudramma’s parents rushed to her house after hearing the commotion. She sent her children to her parents’ house while her parents tried to pacify Gopal.

When he turned uncontrollable, Rudramma with her parents’ help tied up her husband’s hands and legs and dumped him in a corner of the house.

Soon after her parents left the house, Gopal again began to hurl abuses at his wife and threatened her with dire consequences.

An enraged Rudramma strangled him with her sari, killing him on the spot.

She panicked and rushed to her parents’ house.

Rudramma told the police that for the rest of the night, she planned various ways to dispose of her husband’s body. Initially, she thought about carrying it in a car to her native place in Tamil Nadu and disposing of it there. But she gave up the idea fearing the strict police checking at various spots due to elections.

The suspect finally decided to make it look like her husband died because of excessive alcohol consumption.

However, the body’s postmortem wrecked her plan.

When the Kumaraswamy Layout police subjected Gopal’s body to postmortem, ligature marks were found on his neck. The police suspected it was a murder.

When Rudramma was subjected to intense interrogation, she confessed to her crime. The police have arrested Rudramma and presented her before a court. The court has sent her in judicial custody.
