The city police arrested a 36-year-old man for taking pictures of a woman without her consent when she was shopping with her techie husband on Brigade Road on November 17.

The arrested is identified as Mahipal Reddy, a resident of Venugopalnagar in Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh. Mahipal is out on bail, police said.

In her police complaint, the 35-year-old woman said she was shopping with her husband on Brigade Road. When they were near the Louis Phillipe and Arrow showrooms, a man, who appeared inebriated, took her pictures on his mobile phone.

The couple took objection and asked the man why he clicked her pictures without her consent and wanted the images to be deleted. But the man locked his phone and hurled abuses at the couple.

A crowd gathered as the couple protested and reported the incident to the police control room. A patrol vehicle rushed to the spot and took Mahipal to the station. The couple followed them to the station and lodged a complaint.

The Ashok Nagar police booked Mahipal under IPC Sections 354(A) (sexual harassment), 504 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
