Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport intercepted a woman who had gold in powder form mixed with other materials concealed in her innerwear on Wednesday.
The passenger, identified as Sakeena Shaikh (36), arrived at the Bengaluru airport by Air Asia flight G9-497 from Sharjah. As soon as she arrived, customs officials profiled her and picked her up for questioning.
They found that Sakeena, a resident of Mumbai, was wearing two layers of innerwear, between which she had hidden gold in the form of powder mixed with other materials.
After it was separated from the other material, the gold was found to be weighing 853 gm, worth Rs 26.2 lakh.
