The Congress Udupi district unit staged a protest rally from Tiger Circle to the DC's office in Manipal against the massive corruption by the NDA government in the Rafale deal.

Agitators shouted slogans against the NDA government.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake demanded an in-depth inquiry into the deal. He alleged that Rs 41,000 crore loss has been incurred by the country following the Rafale deal. He said, “Rafale deal is a massive corruption the county has witnessed in the century. The prime minister himself is involved.”

He demanded the joint parliamentary committee be set up for the inquiry into the scam. The Central government’s policies are making the lives of people hell. Most of the assurances have remained merely a lip service. The unscientific implementation of GST and demonetisation has created hordes of problems to the layman.

Former MLA Gopal Bhandary said there is a need for the secular forces to join hands to fight against the corruption. He alleged that BJP is following the divide and rule policy in the name of religion. The country is built under the secular pedestal and harmony is the only way out for peace in the country. The country’s situation is deteriorating day by day following the saffronised policies of the BJP. It has come to power by playing with the sentiments of the people and by misguiding them.

Congress district unit president Janardhan Thonse said that the inflation and increasing unemployment in the country have put the common man in distress. The country is witnessing chaos never seen before, he added.
