As announced by Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal earlier, cops drawn both from city and other districts have been trained to do ‘friendly policing’. This apart, kiosks are being put up at about 45 different locations to help tourists and visitors. They can knock at these kiosks to register their complaints if any.

DCP (law and order) Basavaraj Malagathi told Deccan Herald, two pronged security system will be in place. The first prong will be in place from October 8 to 14 and second from October 15 to 17 the d-day of Dasara that culminates with ‘Jamboo Savari’ procession followed by torchlight parade. To deal with crime related cases alone during the period, an exclusive squad of 80 cops in crime wing drawn from district police limits will be deployed.

The squad will be headed by a special DCP. The service of new beat members will be utilised to ensure fool proof security. This apart, a strong contingent of 25 each of KSRP platoons and  district armed reserve (DAR) police forces have already arrived. About 2,000 police personnel from 18 districts have been roped in. About 1,200 home guards will also be a part of security cover.

A meeting of hotel and lodge owners has already been conducted and have been given do’s and don’ts. They have been strictly instructed to equip their hotel premises with CCTV camera, scanning of luggage without compromising on security and alert police in case of any suspicious activities.
