As Madikeri Dasara and Theerthodbhava will be celebrated on the same day, the police will be more vigilant and alert to maintain peace and order in the district.

At a preparatory meeting here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police Manjunath K Annigeri said that so far only 400 police personnel were being deployed for the Dasara. However, this year owing to Dasara and Theerthodbhava and Gonikoppa Dasara, 1,000 additional police personnel will be deployed. To maintain peace and order during Madikeri Dasara, CCTVs will be installed. Those tourists who visit the district should also co-operate with the police department in maintaining peace and order.

He said last year, vehicles were allowed to park at Man’s compound. However, this year, vehicles can not be parked at Man’s compound as athletic tracks are being laid. The department has decided to provide parking facility at RMC yard, FMC College maidan, lower Man’s compound and DAR maidan, Annigeri informed.
If the CMC levels the three acre land near SAI synthetic turf maidan, then the department is ready to provide parking facility in it, he added.

In the backdrop of Teerthodbhava taking place on October 18 at 3.11 am, to help those who come from outside and the people of the district to move to Talacauvery, General Thimmaiah Circle should be made free. It would be better if Dashamantapa returns without entering the circle.

CMC Member T S Prakash said only four Mantapas move in General Thimmaiah Circle. CMC President P D Ponnappa said that no performance should be allowed in General Thimmaiah Circle. After crossing Major Mangerira Muthanna Circle, Mantapas should leave the place at the earliest.

Vehicle pass

The SP said that the police department will start distributing vehicle passes to Madikeri Dasara and Talacauvery Theerthodbhava after October 14. All the vehicles which move to Theerthodbhava will not be allowed to enter the city. All the departments including Chescom will be given passes. Those who require pass should provide the information much in advance.

A helpline will also be started for the tourists and public. The public can seek assistance from the helpline.

Cleanliness

Ponnappa directed all the hotels to  maintain cleanliness during Dasara utsav.
DHO was directed to provide 24 hours service at District Hospital on the day of Vijayadashami.  KSRTC officials informed that 30 additional buses will be deployed to Talacauvery on Theerthodbhava day. The PWD officials were directed to fill the potholes on the road to Talacauvery.

The Raja Seat should be kept open for the public throughout the night on Vijayadashami. The musical fountain should be played for every hour.  Additional Deputy Commissioner K M Chandre Gowda called upon the public to co-operate with the officials in the success of Dasara and Theerthodbhava.
