"Following the success of our first locally made car–the Nissan Micra, we are happy to reveal the first sketch of the second car to be produced in India," Nissan Motor India Managing Director and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said in a company statement here.

"We are confident that the 'New Global Sedan', which is also based on the versatile ‘V’ platform, will delight the discerning Indian customers", he said.

The new global Sedan, "which is the second product after the launch of Micra from Nissan stable", would be displayed at the eighth China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition, scheduled to be held in December, the company said.

Though the model would be initially launched in China, it would be formally unveiled in India during the second half of 2011, it said.

The New Global Sedan is a completely new look Sedan based on Nissan's 'V' platform, it said.

Nissan in association with French automajor Renault has set up a manufacturing facility at Oragadam near here at an investment of Rs 4,400 crore over a period of seven years.
The company registered total sales of 1,256 units in September 2010 with the Micra clocking 1,183 units. In the same month last year, the company sold a total of 57 units only, the release said.

The sales of Micra nationwide began on July 15, while the overseas market sales of the Micra models began recently.
