The camp is scheduled to begin on the World Sight Day that falls on Thursday. NETRA which stands for Neighbourhood Education+Engagement for Total Response and Action is aimed at educating communities on vision care, awareness about blindness, vision impairment, vision-related diseases and eye donation.

Computer Vision Syndrome, refractive error in children, diabetic etc are increasing at an alarming rate in Bangalore and hence a comprehensive campaign like this is critical, said Dr Balakrishna Shetty, Chairman, Devi Eye Hospital.

People take their vision for granted and hardly pay attention to eye care unless the ailment becomes severe.
