Last Updated 15 October 2010, 03:47 IST

The 150 cars that were distributed include 13 S class, 74 E class, 39 C class, 6 GL class and 18 M class cars.

These luxurious cars were booked by the industrialists and businessmen in the city.
The cars arrived in the city two weeks before and were distributed at a programme in the city.

On the occasion, Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India said, "Today we have fulfilled the dream of almost 150 individuals in Aurangabad who aspired for the Mercedes brand and I am sure there are others who would be inspired as well."

For Aurangabad, this is not just a high value transaction. The Mercedes transaction has been a lever in driving up the image of the city, he said.

The exposure about this large volume car deal has enhanced the real estate values. It has also created significantly high interest from investors, many of whom are now actively contemplating entry into this city.

"In addition, we are aware that there are several large brands that are now aggressively viewing Aurangabad as a preferred destination. The point that Aurangabad has proved is that the Mercedes transaction has been a strong statement about the economic muscle of this city- and this has been a useful lever in dialing-up the image of Aurangabad," Aulbur said.

"We are well travelled and have exposure to different global brands; yet when we analysed options, Mercedes emerged as the obvious choice. I need not worry about travelling far and out with my Mercedes-Benz," said Rahul Pagaria, a Mercedes Benz owner.

"Now we have a service centre right at our hometown, and then there is the Mondial service for roadside assistance... who else can offer such comprehensive assurance?" said Atul Save owner of an S-Class.

"We are delighted to make history in this historic city. Aurangabad has made a bold, aggressive and a very dynamic statement. The purchase of 150 Mercedes-Benz cars in a single transaction valued at Rupees 65 crore, the highest value car transaction ever in India" Debashis Mitra, Director Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India said.
