Netravalkar pushes South to the brink


Netravalkar’s five-wicket burst reduced South to 111 for nine, leaving them needing a further 61 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Netravalkar picked five wickets conceding a mere 43 runs and received good support from Jaidev Unadkat (3/14) as South crumbled under constant pressure from the West bowlers.

Earlier, resuming from their overnight 103 for four, South added another 99 runs before getting bundled out. Vijay Shankar played a lone hand, scoring 59, but it was not sufficent to save them from the follow-on as they conceded a lead of 172 runs.

Unadkat was the most successful bowler for West, taking four for 55, and his match tally stood at seven for 69 at close of the penultimate day’s play with the chance to add another.

At the Infosys ground in Mysore, ZCA North walloped ZCA Central by 211 runs.
Overnight 31 for one chasing 297 for victory, Central were shot out for 85 in their second innings.

Sandeep Sharma finished with figures of seven for 45 as the Central batsmen rounded off a miserable batting performance that began with them being rolled over for a measly 70 in their first innings.

At Mysore (Gangotri Glades ground): President’s XI: 272 all out in 82.4 overs and 161 all out in 67.3 overs (Neelkanth P 38, Samith Gohil 35; Arup Das 4-29, Kundan Singh 3-45) vs ZCA East: 204 all out in 58 overs and 155/7 in 48 overs (Abhishek Das 32; Rahul Kaneria 3-45).
