Permission has not been given for Shobhayatre either

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, the DC said that the matter was clarified to the Sene members during the preparatory meet called by district administration recently.

Dr Chanappa Gowda said that though the activists had initially agreed to this, they have now asked for permission for Paduke Darshan again.

“The district administration cannot permit Paduke Darshan because Dattamala Abhiyan is being celebrated only post 1975. District administration will uphold the Supreme Court order of 1975 that states that only those rituals which are being performed before 1975 must be allowed,” he said.

When the DC was informed that Paduke were kept in the hill for darshan last time when Bajrang Dal had organised Datta Jayanthi celebration, he said that there is no written order from the Government to do so.

No permission

The DC also clarified that the district administration has not given permission for the shobhayatre planned by the Sene on October 22. However, he said that if at all the Sene is adamant on holding the procession, then the district administration will think of allowing them to take out a procession on IG Road because a procession will be held on MG Road as a part of Valmiki Jayanthi. Hence, the Sene will not be allowed to hold a procession on MG Road.

Warning

The Sene has released statement that it would perform a ‘Homa’ outside DC office if Datta Paduke is not given for public darshan. The Deputy Commissioner responding to the same, warned Sene members of legal action, if they dare to do any such thing outside the DC office.
