“The officials of the High Court should translate those reports (into English) so that the Chief Justice and other judges can go through them. If he (the Chief Justice) decides to dump the reports in the waste basket after going through them, no problem,” he told reporters. He, however, refused to elaborate on the issue.

But Gowda further said Member of Parliament from Mysore H Vishwanath has publicly commented on the issue. “There is nothing to hide about it. What the MP has spoken is true. I know he has not exaggerated anything,” Gowda stated.

Vishwanath had recently questioned the Chief Justice’s propriety in sharing the dais with the Chief Minister while he was hearing a petition by dissident BJP legislators in which the the chief minister is one of the respondents.

Criticising Speaker K G Bopaiah for disqualifying 16 rebel MLAs ahead of the trust vote on October 11, Deve Gowda said: “All the perfumes of Arabia cannot cleanse the Speaker’s chair... The atmosphere in the Assembly is so vitiated that it is impossible to clean it. Normally people from Kodagu are highly disciplined and upright... Nobody can believe that he is from Kodagu.”

He took a dig at the Congress high command for providing a second opportunity to the BJP to prove its majority and alleged that the Congress has a tacit understanding with the BJP.

Governor petitioned

In a separate press conference JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy urged Governor H R Bhardwaj to immediately dismiss the state government for allegedly luring MLAs of the Opposition parties with huge money.

Speaking after submitting a memorandum to the Governor, he said he briefed the latter about the devious ways being adopted by the BJP to stabilise its government and the concomitant impact on the State politics.

A copy of the memorandum, which also contains a CD wherein BJP legislator Suresh Gowda allegedly offers Rs 15 crore to JD(S) MLA Srinivas for switching loyalty, will also be sent to the President ,the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. Asked about Chief Minister Yeddyurappa terming the CD fake, Kumaraswamy dared the former to file criminal case against Srinivas and order a probe by an invesitgation agency.
