24th CSI Karnataka students convention begins

250 participants from across State

Rajkumar Buyya, Prof of Computer Science at Melbourne University and Director of Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems Lab at Melbourne inaugurated the convention. Anirban Basu, chairman of CSI Bangalore chapter, Principal of SJCE B G Sangameshwara, vice-principal Shakeeb-ur-Rehman and others were present. Buyya delivered a keynote address on cloud computing. Former vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University Chidananda Gowda delivered a technical talk.

The CSI Karnataka annual student convention is a unique academic activity of computer society of India- Bangalore chapter. It provides a professional platform for student of various streams of IT to showcase their talent. Invited talks from practicing professionals provide the students an opportunity to learn about the current industry trends. It also provides an opportunity for networking between the students, professionals and academicians.

The objective of the convention is to create awareness about trends in technology among the students and future engineers and architects. The meet comprise of various sessions like technical papers, talks, panel discussion, quiz and cultural programme.

More than 250 participants of technical institutions from all over the State are attending the convention, the principal said.

Dr C N Ravikumar, Head of the department,  Computer Science, Dr T N Nagabhushan, Head of the department,  Information Science were present.
