Cops undergo prostrate checkup

Dr Dilip C Dhanpal, Urologist and Co-coordinator transplant services, Sagar Group of Hospitals said that since prostate has impact on quality of lifestyle, it is very important for men to undergo regular checkup before the condition worsens.  

Prostate gland is a part of the male reproductive system which consists of glandular and muscular tissue. It is situated below the neck of the bladder, encircling the urethra, he said.
In men over the age of 50 years, enlargement of the prostate (benign prostatic hypertrophy) is common, he added.  

Sometimes the result is pressure on the urethra and bladder, which interferes with urination, precipitating urinary retention and kidney disease, he said.
