‘Krishnegowdana Ane’, a play based on a story penned by Poornachandra Tejaswi, was staged during the ‘Hunnime Hadu-53’, organised by the cultural organisation.

Scripted and directed by Nagesh, the play has an elephant of a mutt as its central character around which the story of its alcoholic mahout, his wife, the mutt’s seer and a gram panchayat president is woven.

102 shows

The play also portrays the entry of modernity into the mutt and its changing role and status in the society-in-transition as the pontiff, who couldn’t take care of the elephant, sells it and buys a car. The stage set wonderfully transported the entire audience to an altogether different world.
The troupe, comprising Ramanath, Noor Ahmed Sheikh, Mime Ramesh and Anjusingh has completed 102 shows so far.
