‘Krishnegowdana Ane’, a play based on a story penned by Poornachandra Tejaswi, was staged during the ‘Hunnime Hadu-53’, organised by the cultural organisation.
Scripted and directed by Nagesh, the play has an elephant of a mutt as its central character around which the story of its alcoholic mahout, his wife, the mutt’s seer and a gram panchayat president is woven.
The play also portrays the entry of modernity into the mutt and its changing role and status in the society-in-transition as the pontiff, who couldn’t take care of the elephant, sells it and buys a car. The stage set wonderfully transported the entire audience to an altogether different world. The troupe, comprising Ramanath, Noor Ahmed Sheikh, Mime Ramesh and Anjusingh has completed 102 shows so far. DH News Service
